'We Must Pray for the Deceased'

Teresa Builes
Poughkeepsie, New York

My son, Steven, died when he was 21. He was in his third year of college, studying in Philadelphia. One night, in 2007, he was hailing a taxi cab, but the driver didn't see him, and he was going very fast. The taxi hit and killed my son.

I pray for him, but now I also pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

Tuned to Our Temporal Needs

by Fr. Dan Cambra, MIC

Too often in our culture we either over-sentimentalize St. Joseph or overlook him. To set the record straight, in last month's newsletter I announced that we members of the Holy Souls Sodality will celebrate 2019 as our own little Year of St. Joseph. What that means is that we, like many of the great saints, shall endeavor to see St. Joseph for who he was here on earth and the pivotal role he continues to play from Heaven.

Purgatory and Psalm 130

by Fr. Dan Cambra, MIC

You may recall that in the May issue of the Holy Souls Sodality newsletter, I wrote about a beautiful icon titled "Purgatory, The Promise of God's Mercy" of which we Marian Fathers recently became the custodians. The icon now hangs for public veneration in the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy here in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

I've since created a prayer card with an image of the icon. I sent you one with a previous newsletter. You'll find an additional one included with this month's mailing, too.
